Tons of good stuff this week. The anticipated 8.0.5 core release is out. I was excited to see Fuzz's work on embedding Tcl/Tk as an ActiveX control. For extension authors, check out the draft proposal on Scriptics' TEA site, and watch for more news soon.

  • The Tcl/Tk 8.0.5 core has been released (see [2])
  • TclControl is an early release of software allowing you to wrap up a Tcl/Tk script as an ActiveX control (see [3])
  • David Gravereaux explains how to write multithreaded extensions for Tcl (see [4])
  • The BWidget package is now up to version 1.1 (see [5])
  • Paul Duffin is working on extending the built-in Tcl object types, to include e.g. map, vector, string, struct, chain (see [6])
  • Watch this page for notes from the Tcl Extension Architecture Summit this week http://www.tcl.tk/doc/tea/tea-summit-99.html
  • Some notes on 8.1's handling of channels (see [7])
  • The biggest thread this week was on looking at a standard set of in-place list operations, for efficiency (thread [8])
